Carolyn Hans is the woman behind the scenes. When she met her husband, Pete, she soon realized that hunting was his passion. She immediately grew to adore it herself. One of her favorite activities is to sit in a stand and watch the woods come alive.
She began her career as a teacher and very much enjoyed it, but as her three children grew older and the hunting company expanded, she realized it was time to join her husband and work full-time in the family business.
Carolyn oversees the day-to-day administration of the office. She is in charge of scheduling, marketing, document management, and bookkeeping. She likes utilizing her artistic abilities to create virtual advertisements that attract new hunters to Deep South Hunting Camps.

Pete Hans

With over 38 years of hunting knowledge and experience, Pete takes the word “expert” to a whole new level. He uses a combination of skills to identify the best hunting spots and is especially known for his expertise on animal behavior, hunting locations, and weather patterns. Pete is passionate about guiding his hunts and taking hunters under his wing to teach them exactly how to predict animal behavior for optimal success. He also places a huge emphasis on gun safety and takes rigorous precautions for each hunt including pre-hunt meetings and detailed protocols. 

Ron Chapman

Hunting Guide

Ron is a life-long hunter with over 40 years’ experience afield. Beginning in the '70s chasing squirrels through the mountains of southwestern Virginia, Ron has hunted all over the world. From Wyoming to Canada and Alabama to South Africa, Ron has taken multiple species of large game. Most with his trusty old Savage 110 .30-06.

Ron is passionate about ethical hunting. He gets as excited when his clients are successful as when he himself is. He works hard for his clients and does everything within his control to ensure a great hunting experience.

Johnathan Boutwell

Hunting Guide

Johnathan Boutwell grew up hunting Mississippi whitetails. He's been hunting since he was old enough to drag a rifle into a deer stand. Johnathan has over 30 years hunting with multiple trophy bucks to his credit. He is the longest serving guide at Deep South where his experience is highly valued.

Johnathan's goal is to provide his hunters with a top-notch hunt. He works tirelessly running cameras and maintaining food plots in order to give hunters their best chance at success.
